Master Plan
The City of Los Angeles has submitted the Van Nuys Airport Master Plan to the Los Angeles County
Airport Land Use Commission (ALUC) for a determination of consistency with the adopted LA County
Airport Land Use Plan. This year will bring public hearings followed by the ALUC making its
consistency determination. The review of the Master Plan entails a determination of noise,
safety and over flight impacts on surrounding land uses. We will continue to push these proceedings
until the Master Plan is approved. |

Economic Alliance "Economic Impact Task Force"
In October of 2001 the Mayor appointed this task force to assess the economic state of the City in
the aftermath of September 11, to develop recommendations to mitigate the impacts on the economy,
and present these recommendations back to the Mayor. A VNAA Director served as a task force member
contributing information more specific to our area. The Association continues to work with the
Economic Alliance. |

Airport Open House
The VNAA is promoting an Open House event to replace the canceled Aviation Expo. This interesting
and educational half-day event would potentially provide bus tours around the airport with stops at
designated businesses. The Open House will have an exciting theme, which will be complimented by a
fly in or war birds and vintage aircraft with celebrities yet to be determined. |
 |
Security
The VNAA is working with LAWA staff to develop General Aviation security measures to assist in the
protection of airport businesses and the community. |
 |
Flyaway
Construction of a larger and more comprehensive Flyaway is developing. The Association continues to
work with the Economic Alliance and the Planning Department of LAWA providing suggestions and
comments vital to the planning phases and aesthetic community appeal of the design. |
